option和choice的區別

　　choice是“選擇”，option是“選項”，選擇可以是無(wú)限的，不固定的，而選項是有限的。比如，大學(xué)畢業(yè)生走向社會(huì )，他們的choices是many, many的，理論上講是無(wú)限的，做什么都可以，什么都可以去試。

　　1、option和choice的區別

　　option和choice，兩者均有選擇的意思，從中文意義上很難分辨兩者的區別，我們從其英文含義及用法上進(jìn)行辨析。

　　一、option和choice的相同點(diǎn)

　　1. 當option表示[可數]power or freedom of choosing，相當于choice(right or possibility of choosing; act of choosing between two or more possibilities)，表示“挑選；選擇權”

　　例句：

　　have little option=not much choice 沒(méi)有多少選擇的余地

　　I haven't much option(=choice) in the matter. 在這件事情上我無(wú)可選擇。

　　I have little option(=choice) but to go, ie I have to go. 我別無(wú)選擇只好走。

　　2. 當option表示[可數]thing that is or may be chosen，相當于choice( one of two or more possibilities from which sb may choose),表示“可供選擇的事物”

　　Make a list of the various options(=choices). 列出可供選擇的項目.

　　He was given one month's imprisonment without the option (=choice/alternative) of a fine. 他被判監禁一個(gè)月, 不得以罰款相抵

　　二、option和choice的不同點(diǎn)

　　1. option (on sth) (commerce 商) right to buy or sell sth at a certain price within a certain time (按其價(jià)格在規定期限內買(mǎi)或賣(mài)某物的)選擇權:

　　an option on a package holiday 包價(jià)旅游選擇權

　　have an option on a piece of land 有買(mǎi)賣(mài)一地皮的選擇權

　　We have a 12-day option on the house. 我們是否購買(mǎi)那所房子有12天的選擇權.

　　在這里，choice不能替換option。

　　2. 相關(guān)的習語(yǔ)

　　1) option

　　keep/leave one's options open: avoid making a decision now, so that one still has a choice later 暫不作決定; 留有選擇余地:

　　Don't take the job now keep your options open until you leave university. 先別接受這份工作--暫時(shí)保留選擇權, 到離開(kāi)這所大學(xué)再說(shuō).

　　在這里，不是keep/leave one's choices。

　　2)choice

　　(1)out of/from choice willingly 愿意地

　　He helps her out of choice 他出于自愿幫助她。

　　(2)for choice寧可

　　I will take French for choice. 要選的話(huà)我就選法語(yǔ)。

　　(3)of one's choice 某人所選定的

　　First prize in the competition will be a meal at the restaurant of your choice. 獲頭獎?wù)呖勺赃x飯店用一餐。

　　(4)be spoilt for choice 因供選擇的事物過(guò)多而無(wú)從下手

　　3. option: one of the things that you can choose to do in a particular situation

　　He basically has two options: he can have the surgery, or he can give up playing football.

　　他有兩個(gè)選擇：一是接受手術(shù)，二是放棄足球。
